BernieD projects K3-3.
---------------
This is a newly developed WebQuest by Candy Szalay, a Kindergarten teacher
here in San Diego. It's called Meeting in the Mitten and it's based on the
book "The Mitten" by Jan Brett.
The unit takes around a month and culminates in the children performing a
play based on the book. Along the way, they learn about several types of
animals and they practice transforming the book into dialog, costumes and
a set.

BernieD exclaims, "Here comes a projection!"

BernieD says, "Take a few minutes and look it over."
BJB asks, "did everyone get that projection?"
CynthiaM says, "yes"
JaniceF says, "wonderful!""
BernieD asks, "What do you like about it, Janice?"
DebbieH says, "Yes"
BernieD asks, "Anyone? Got reactions? Got milk?"
JaniceF exclaims, "This takes what is great about computer use and combines
it with what is missing in many kid's lives who spend too
much time in front of TY!"
AdamG says, "I really like when the author provides links for the teachers
and links for the students"
Elaine [guest] arrives from nowhere.
CynthiaM says, "I think it is well designed and will be intriguing to young
students."
JaniceF asks, "Do you think it could be done just as well without the
technology?"
KarenRL says, "yes, it was wonderful. I loved the simplicity of the
instructions, the activity, cooperative learning, and also
the terminology of the rubric."
BernieD says, "The Jan
Brett site is one of the best kiddie lit sites
out
there, they tell me. She has sound files for the early
reader, too."
AdamG says, "The technology is the part that allows the students to find
the information so quickly"
BernieD [to JaniceF]: "I think she did this last year before the web, but
says this year went terrifically."
