JaniceF asks, "what information did they have to find quickly?"
CynthiaM says, "I think the play aspect could probably be done just as well
without the technology component"
BernieD agrees
AdamG says, "Its not that they had to its that they could find it quickly"
KarenRL says, "I was going to say that, too. Connecting with Jan Brett is
a wonderful opportunity for those who may not have access to
internet at home to connect with other children's authors."
Jan_NS says, "I try to filter any WQ through the consideration of - can
this webquest be accomplished without the internet and still
have the objectives realized? Or does adding the information
from the internet merely add techno-flash and little of
substance. I believe that this WQ has unique additions that
strengthen the students' learning."
MarcaB [guest] says, "One of my favorite authors and stories. I like how
the technology allows students with limited reading
skills to complete the project. Sutdents would love
the play with or without the technology component.""
JaniceF says, "The real connection to the teacher's website really does
make a difference I think."
BernieD says, "I wish you could see the props and the play. One of the
parents made a giant mitten that the kids climbed into
wearing their animal masks."
JaniceF says, "I mean to the author's website"
BernieD says, "The background on non-fictional animals is cool, too."
KarenRL says, "Particularly about the mole, hedgehog, and winter. Yes, the
students could learn from books. But getting the information
and evaluating the information is definitely a good skill to
learn."
JaniceF says, "I think kids would be excited and motivated by the fact that
relatives from other areas could see it."
KarenRL says, "I think kids would be excited about acting out the story."
BernieD says, "Candy describes that parent show as a lot like Thanksgiving
dinner.... eons of preparation and it's all over in minutes."
KarenRL says, "Well, true, but the process and what the students do to
prepare is just as important and it is learning."
MarcaB [guest] <- CynthiaM> <Is this the correct form for a whisper? If
not, all others please excuse!>
BernieD says, "So... this one was a good blend of technology and cutting
out with safe scissors."
JaniceF says, "I like it"
KarenRL says, "Yes."
